IFAF Flag Football World Championships
The biennial IFAF Flag Football World Championships (‘IFAF World Flag’) is the pinnacle global competition in flag football outside the Olympic Games. This year’s edition, taking place at the Düsseldorf-Garath Flag Football Complex in western Germany, will make history as the first-ever Olympic qualifier in the new sport of flag football, set to be a major highlight of Los Angeles 2028.
Four sets of ‘golden tickets’ (two men’s, two women’s) will be at stake this summer, providing coveted berths in the six-team inaugural Olympic Games tournaments. IFAF World Flag will be one of the first direct LA28 qualifying competitions across all sports.
In total, 16 men’s and 16 women’s national teams will participate in Düsseldorf, having earned their spots through last year’s IFAF Continental Championships. Competition begins on Thursday, August 13, with medal games scheduled for Sunday, August 16.
For the first time, the Championships are being organized with support from the NFL, whose executives and Legends will also be present.
A pre-event Media Day, with extended athlete interview availabilities and training vision opportunities for non-rights-holding broadcasters, press and creators, will take place from 8am to 2pm on Wednesday, 12 August.
A media mixed zone will also be in operation throughout the tournament, providing opportunities for short post-game reactions from athletes and coaches.
Media accreditation is possible for written press, photographers, NRH broadcast, Broadcast Right Holders and content creators. If you would like to receive the media accreditation information, please contact: worldflag26(at)d-sports.de
